Eyelash extensions have taken beauty trends by storm! Celebrities such as Kylie Jenner or J.Lo has been seen batting their new long lashes and looks absolutely glamorous doing so.  So what are eyelash extensions and how safe are they are? Here’s a look into the world of eyelash extensions!

How they work

Applying extensions to your natural lashes not only enhances the length but the thickness of your natural lashes as well. And the way they are applied is by having individual lashes dipped into a medical-grade adhesive and then bonded on to your natural eyelash. This process of applying extensions to your lashes can take from one to two hours.

What are they?

The extensions may be made up of synthetic, human, silk or mink hair. While synthetic lashes are a bit shiner and suitable for a dramatic look, silk or mink extensions tend to be more natural and less strenuous on your natural lashes.

Eyelash extensions are a commitment from cost to maintenance while they look pretty on you have to decide if you and your wallet are up for the challenge!  Here are a couple recommended and even required methods of maintenance.

Avoid getting your eyelashes wet within the first 12-24 hours of application

If you are going to be wearing makeup keep oil based products away from your eyes!

Do not rub your eyes

Sleep on your back

Brush your lashes in the morning and after your shower

How long do they last?

Eyelash extensions can last up to a month but recommended touch-ups are 10 -21 days after to keep them looking full. Also it is good to keep in mind that we naturally shed 3-5 eyelashes daily.

This portion truly depends on the salon you decide to attend to but, generally most salons may charge from 100$- 350$ so it is good to keep in mind your budget.
